Separate Ways: Sonnet Poem

Separate Ways

I desperately thought you were my One.

I thought I would be happier with you

I was seeing you as my only hun

But I figured that is really not true;

I thought we were the perfect two for us

I thought we could be inseparable

I never imagined us on a bus

Gone too far - being irreversible.

I thought together we were amazing

Never thought would mean it once we're apart

I always pictured us a time of spring

Now our picture is a torn piece of art.

But it is time I let us be alone

And allow our hearts to settle like stone.

This poem is an English (Shakespearean) Sonnet written by me in World Literature class. I chose to write about this topic because a sonnet is required to have a problem or question in the beginning and end with a resolution, and this poem I wrote does just that. It expresses how the narrator thought this person was "the One" for him/her and how he/she never thought they would be separated. However, they are separated and going different ways now, so the narrator says it is time to let go. I like this poem because it gives many metaphors while expressing the feelings of the poem.

Limerick Poem

There once was a sun light through the trees Howling comes to me through many leaves Listening to crushing waves from the sea I can smell...
