This quarter, our class is learning about Poetry. We were assigned to answer a few questions from a PowerPoint presentation about Poetry Ms. Bevas gave us.
This journal here is a journal I wrote for these two questions:
-What are typical emotions and topics shown in poetry?
-Are there bad poetry topics?
Some typical emotions shown in poetry are sadness and happiness. Some topics in poetry are love, motivation, and hope, but these are only a few topics out of the unlimited amount of topics to choose from. Poetry does not have to have a specific topic or emotion appealing in the writing, so the writer has the freedom to write about anything he/she wants. I think there isn’t anything as a bad poetry topic because it is the author’s choice to write the poem with that topic and the topic he chose to write about won't really matter or give a negative impact to his poem. I think what really matters is if the author wrote the poem well or not.
