Which character in the book would you trust with your life?

The character from The Kite Runner I would trust in the most is Rahim Khan. Rahim Khan is an old business partner and close friend of Amir's dad, Baba. He is a very generous person and also is a person who cares for others. He was also the first 'adult-friend' Amir had as a child. I would trust in him the most because he was the only person who truly believed in Amir and supported Amir's love for writing. The reader can see this in the story when Rahim Khan gives Amir a leather journal for his birthday in chapter five, which Amir used to write his first published novel.

Just recently in chapter fourteen, Rahim Khan called Amir, telling him he is ill and wants him to come to Pakistan and visit him. He told Amir that 'there is a way to be good again' in page 166. Amir came to realize that his suspicions were true: Rahim Khan knew about what happened on the day of the kite running competition; he had always known. I think that Rahim Khan did not call Amir all these years since he left to America until now because he probably missed Amir, but cared and thought for him since he knew. However, Rahim Khan called Amir years later because he found a way for them to be "good" again. This means that he misses Amir, but also probably means that he knew Amir could not live with his guilt for Hassan forever, and he wanted to help. I believe that this shows how thoughtful and caring Rahim Khan is as a person.
