The Kite Runner: Character Relations

Both "The Kite Runner" and "My Enemy, My Brother" show special characters and special relationships between these characters. I never even thought to compare the relationships, but with this assignment, I now have a good opportunity to compare the character relationships of the two stories. When one reads "The Kite Runner," he or she may notice that Amir and Hassan are the two main characters to know. When one watches "My Enemy, My Brother," he or she may notice that Zahed and Najah are the main characters. Both couples of characters had conflicts between one another, and I felt that those conflicts had similar reasons. There were similar texts between the main characters. Amir never thought of Hassan as a friend because Hassan is Amir’s servant; similarly, Zahed and Najah did not like each other because they were enemies. However, there were also opposing feelings between the characters of each story. When Hassan was getting raped by Wali and Kamal, Amir simply ran away instead of trying to save Amir. When Zahed found Najah’s family, he did not kill them even though he knew that they were the enemy.
