Khaled Hosseini was born in 1965 in Kabul, Afghanistan. Khaled was born from a mother who was a teacher and a father who was a diplomat. His family left for Paris in 1976 before the Soviet invasion, and now lives in California, where he is working as a doctor.

Khaled Hosseini describes his book, The Kite Runner, as a largely fictional book with the characters and plot invented and imagined. He says he also has some autobiographical contents in the book, mostly inspired by the times he had in the US. Hosseini wanted to write about Afghanistan before the Soviet War to show readers how Afghanistan was peaceful like the other countries are before the war. Hosseini did express these that he wanted to express in his book, The Kite Runner, which we will begin reading soon.
